According to James Riker, "Revised History of Harlem", Claude (Glaude) le Maistre was an excile from his home at Richebourg, in Artois. It was while living in the Loyerdwarstraet at Amsterdam on April 24, 1652, that he married Hester Du Bois, his second wife.
