John Petrus Mabie

Notes:

Had five children by first wife.

In 1770 Peter came into possession of the Ryker Farmstead from John Ryker. Remained in the Mabie family until 1797 and was sold to John Conklin, Jr.

Peter Mabie of Harrington Township, Bergen County, New Jersey left a will dated April 27, 1820, proved February 27, 1823, in which he named his wife Sarah, children, viz. John, deceased, Leah, Peter, Jasper, deceased, Sarah Naugle and Frederick. Peter also named Caty, widow of Jasper, Abel Smitt, son of Jasper, Peter, son of Jasper, Rachel, daughter of John Nagle, Peter, son of Frederick, and Sarah Boyd, daughter of Frederick.

Family/Spouse: Sarah Boyd. Sarah (daughter of Living) was born in 1737; died on 7 Nov 1821. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Peter Mabie was born on 5 Feb 1771.
2. Casper Mabie was born on 25 Mar 1776.
3. Sarah Mabie was born in 1777.
4. Samuel Mabie was born in 1782.
5. Freederick Mabie was born in 1782.

John married Marytje Bell on 8 Aug 1762. Marytje died on 1 Jan 1769. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Moved to New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York where he was married. Shortly afterwards, moved to Tappan, New York. Ten children.

"It is believed that the Seignour Pierre Mabille de Nevi of Neuvy, south of Angers in the province of Anjou, France, who fled to Naarden in Holland, was his great-grandfather. His grandfather and father were said to be in New Amsterdam by 1650, his father being Peter (Pierre Gaspard or Pieter Casparszen). Caspar and his wife moved to Harlem, sold that property in 1700 and moved to New Rochelle, staying there until about 1708, when he was found in Bergen County, New Jersey. His sons stayed in New Rochelle, and eventually they all moved to the area around Cortland Manor in Northern Westchester County or adjoining Putnam County."
