David goes to England

Once I graduated from RPI, I flew out to Europe for a nice long trip. I packed one bag and hung out mostly in England for about a month. I stayed at a few different small hotels around the city. I also stayed with my cousin Emily for a while as well. I loved wondering around the city and really got to know my way around the Tube very well. Plenty of great sites to take in on my first ever trip abroad. ...

Charlotte and Lynn go hiking on a glacier

Charlotte and Lynn are off to do some climbing and camping at St. Mary’s glacier. It’s really not much of a glacier, but it sure is damn cold. Charlotte tells me it was pretty miserable out on the ice. Look out, number 5 pick axe!

Charlotte rock climbing in Boulder

Charlotte really got into rock climbing while she was in Boulder. She proudly displays her climbing gear back at the apartment. Time to head off for some climbing on a great day. Charlotte’s working on her technique with a local rock climbing class.

Skiing in Steamboat

I wasn’t even in Colorado yet when Charlotte did a trip to Steamboat for some skiing. Looks like the usual crew from Boulder that I would be getting to know in just a few months. Can’t wait to get out of school and start having some real fun.

Lynda's Bat Mitzvah

Lynda’s Bat Mitzvah took place while we lived in Florida. I haven’t got the real photo album, only a few extra photos that you’ll find in this story. Here’s the crew at the synagogue. A few classic posed shots, one heck of a cake, and I have no idea how I wound up being carried around on a chair. I thought it was Lynda’s turn. And here’s the new woman. I love that picture with grandpa Harry. ...

David's Bar Mitzvah

A Bar Mitzvah is a major right of passage for any Jewish boy. It’s also a great excuse for a party with all your friends and family. It also entails a huge amount of preparation. All my years of Hebrew school built up to the study for my Torah and Haftarah reading in front of one huge congregation. Services were held at the Suburban Temple in Wantagh, NY. Rabbi Robert Raab and Cantor Walter Lewis were both there to point out any mistake I might make. Reading Hebrew is hard enough, but they leave out the vowels in the Torah. And trying to sing the Haftarah must be quite a laugh for those in the audience. ...

David's Bar Mitzvah leftovers

The following pictures were the leftovers that weren’t used for the formal album. This group was taken at the synagogue. I think three other kids had their Bar Mitzvahs that same day. A few studly shots over at the reception. A few more posed shots and a few more table photos. Time to hit the dance floor. And a few cake shots to end things.

Annoying uncle Jeff with a noise maker

There’s nothing quite as irritating as a kid with a noise maker and I’ve got my uncle Jeff in my sights. Of course he took great enjoyment out of bugging me, so it’s only fair I get a turn. I’m thinking about attacking my little brother Scott next.

Enjoying Jamestown with my aunt and uncle

We’re visiting historic Jamestown, VA with my uncle Peter and aunt Dorothy. First some group shots in front of the pavilion honoring John Smith and the first settlement. Enough of that, time for some fun on the ships. And to top it all off, my uncle intends to launch me from a cannon. Lynda looks very pleased.

Vacationing in Lake George

We’re off for a big vacation this time up to Lake George. I think we stayed at the Holiday Inn. We visited Fort William Henry and enjoyed a boat ride on the Ticonderoga. There’s also a place called Santa’s Workshop with lots of fun things to do for kids like Lynda and me. Here I am showing off my prized possession from our recent trip to Lake George. I loved that musket rifle. ...
