Looks like a beautiful morning beckoning the intrepid hikers to begin their long journey. Time to leave the cozy cabin to start on the dusty trail. Charlotte and Lynn posing at the trailhead. Lynn is up for a visit from San Diego, and she’s heading out to Yosemite with Charlotte. They’re planning a big hike for tomorrow that should be a nice change of pace from Charlotte’s usual local hikes. The mountains are calling.
The last big event of the year for the PTA was at our house. The kids and I enjoyed a nice night out while the party was going on. When we got home, the group was congratulating themselves on another year of great work for our schools. Thank you Charlotte!

It’s time for the next big SVEF event, the Ice Cream Social. This event is a lot more complicated than the bike ride, so Charlotte and countless volunteers have been very busy for some time now. This morning is the last big push to get everything setup and ready for the big crowd. It’s a great day and things are almost ready. Gabe takes the opportunity to get in some quality skateboarding time at the park before the usual crowd arrives. Unfortunately he wound up taking a hard spill and getting a very swollen knee. And no, he didn’t try to drop in to the BIG bowl. ...

Today is a big hike day for the girls. They start at Moore Creek and finish over at Wilder Ranch. Summer has definitely arrived and the cows look like they’re enjoying themselves also.
Here’s Charlotte’s last day in Michigan before heading home to the family. The day starts bright and early as there is much to pack in today. Rose’s place is looking great. We’ll be enjoying this view later this summer. Gordon is looking like a happy man back at his home. The woodpeckers have been busy with this tree. A few random shots around camp. Charlotte headed back to Bootjack with her dad this week. I’m so jealous she gets to Michigan before the rest of the family. How can a hike as beautiful as this be fair? She doesn’t even seem to mind being the only one that can make sure she’s in some of the pictures. The bare trees make for even better views. Back at camp the lake is looking mighty low. I guess it’s more of that global warming stuff that isn’t really happening. ...
Today is the big day. There are around 70 of us that will be doing 100km in the mountains of Scotts Valley and out to Corralitos. It’s a fantastic day and one of our biggest fundraisers for local schools. Charlotte and her SVEF team have been working their tails off to make sure the ride is a big success. For me, it’s another chance to enjoy a beautiful ride with plenty of friends. ...
