Lunch at the club with the Hoyems
Charlotte, Valri, and Gordon head up to San Mateo to meet George at his club for lunch. A little fancier than La Madrona. I sure hope George did his Thurston Howell III impression for everyone.

Gabe is off to hone his digital photography skills in the backyard. His first subject is a thoughtful study of our cat. Followed by a series of shots that capture the true essence of spring.

The big event with a bunch of Gabe’s friends a few days ago was plenty of fun, but tonight of fun, but tonight we’re having a small birthday party just with the family. Gabe really liked his stag beetle and birthday cow. Monica was a bit freaked by the bug, but she loved her stickers.

First stop on Gabe’s festival of fun in Nunu’s in Scotts Valley to create some pottery masterpieces. I can’t wait to see them after they’re fired. And the artists show me their stuff. Gabe showed me a little more than I bargained for. They finished up early, so it’s time to burn off some excess energy at a local park. Kind of like a tornado setting down in your backyard. I’m sure the locals and their very small children enjoyed our visit. ...

Today is our real anniversary that we’ll be enjoying while cruising around San Francisco. We left Union Square and headed over to the Embarcadero to check out the sculptures. Fort Mason is one of our favorite areas for quiet exploring. We loved the huge community garden. And then it’s time to head home to Santa Cruz. But first we make an emergency stop for gas where we pay some ridiculous price per gallon. ...

Charlotte and I are off for a rare night away from home on our own. Our anniversary is tomorrow and we’ll be enjoying ourselves in fabulous San Francisco. A few interesting faces on the drive up. I had never been to SFMOMA before and was very glad to have finally gotten to it. We enjoyed the usual lengthy walks before the fog started to roll in. Since it was a Sunday night, we had no trouble getting into the Stinking Rose for dinner. A very cool place and the food was excellent. The garlic was killing me the rest of the night. ...

harlotte is enjoying one of the many fundraising efforts on behalf of Scotts Valley schools. Nothing like a fun dinner with lots to drink to really inspire some big spenders. There are always some really great items for people to go crazy on.

Charlie and Kim stopped by with quite the surprise. Looks like Charlie finally got himself a real offroad vehicle. Pictures really can’t capture the immensity of this thing. I would hate to see this coming up fast in my rear view mirror.

Time for a beautiful weekend up in San Francisco. Charlotte really enjoyed these statues along the Embarcadero. The cruise ship was also a great sight. Charlotte and her dad really enjoy Chinatown. It’s also a great place for green tea. Time to head over some famous hills over to the wharf area. I think Valri is looking to join a motorcycle gang. Have to break the news to her family when Charlotte gets back. ...

Charlotte swung by Evergreen Cemetery over at Harvey West today with Gabe. She got a few nice photos. You can also see Gabe getting a bit freaked out thinking about the place they were visiting. Charlotte has no such issues having grown up next to a cemetery.
