It’s a big transition time right now. The Boulder days are drawing to a close with the shutdown of Burroughs, but Charlotte and I are getting closer every day. I was invited out to Portland for an interview with Intel. They put us up for the whole weekend, and luckily for us it was a beautiful weekend. Our favorite ski spot in Colorado has always been Steamboat. George and Gordy met us up there for some fun in the snow. It’s really quite a drive all the way out there, but it’s well worth the trip. Turns out I had to drive through a snowstorm this time that really wiped me out by the time I got there. Amazingly I managed to get a flat just before I got to the condo. Gordy met me for the very first time out front and spotted me staring at my flat tire. As Gordy tells it, his first vision of me was of some dumb loser that Charlotte hooked up with. He then says he realized I was just a brain in some kind of daze. ...

Lynn had been living in San Diego and was heading north to Palo Alto and a new job. Scott and I decided a nice trip up the California coast while helping Lynn move was a great idea. It’s hard to believe that the three of us and all her stuff fit in that one little car.

It’s always a good time to head over to Charlotte’s place for some beer and goofing around. The panther is also a regular fixture at Charlotte and Lynn’s parties. Looks like we’ve all been drinking for a little while.

We started Halloween at work. Here we are at the Burroughs offices showing off as a nerd (not much of a stretch for me) and as a gypsy. Back at Charlotte’s place we get ready for the party. Charlotte and Lynn dressed as Yin and Yang. They temporarily has me play the part as well. The whole crew ready for trick or treating. Stew was very scary looking in his outfit. I don’t know why I let Charlotte and Lynn make me up as a girl. ...

Charlotte, Lynn, and I are off for a big backpacking trip to the Grand Tetons. We’re concerned about bears, but we’re all excited about this trip and the big peaks ahead. We came close to not making it, following our stop at a small town amusement park. We spotted the rides and the lights on our drive up and thought it would be fun. Turns out the ride operator on the spinning ride thought it would be fun to let the ride keep going. We managed to overcome the nausea by the time we arrived. ...

A whole bunch of us headed out to Creedmore Lakes for a bit of hiking and some camping. We wound up scrambling around all over the place and getting lost. There was a bit of panic for some, but we managed to find our way after a little faith in the direction we were heading. Settling down for the night, there was no shortage of conversation. There’s no shortage of snow up in Bootjack in December. It looks so beautiful, but it is unbelievably cold.
