A Coin Flip

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Are you afraid
Of the dark
Or just what
Lies inside of it
When you see darkness
Do you see the shadows
Or the light
That hides within
When you look
Into a mirror
Do you see yourself
Or a reflection
Staring back
As life slips
From your heart
Do you think back
Or wonder ahead
As the sun sets
Do you see
The beautiful colors
Or the impending
Darkness that it brings
Do you see
The glass as
Half full
Or half empty
Tell me which
Side of the coin
Do you prefer
Choose your side wisely
It decides your fate

A Rose by any other Name

Monday, November 9th, 2009

IMG_8071

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”

Ah Shakespeare, here is a beautiful rose picture I took. I love the little rain drop in the middle of the flower… it adds a little something to the photo.

Creeper Photo of the Day: Red Hat

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

IMG_7204

This is my favorite creeper photo I have ever taken. It was in the airport on my way to Seattle. Her hat was what caught my attention. There is just something sad and mysterious about her that I love. It made me wonder why she was going to Seattle and who she was. She has the honor of being my first creeper photo.

Intro: Creeper Photo of the Day

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

So my little brother had the great idea to have a section for Creeper Photo of the Day because I take so many. So starting today there will be a New photo every day of some random person that I have never met but took a picture of without their knowledge of me doing so. A warning, none of these are meant to be stalker photos or anything. These photos are solely of people I found fascinating in some way or another and wanted to remember them for it.

Crab Pot

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I am a huge fan of the television show called Man v. Food on the travel channel. So naturally when in Seattle I checked out the places he went to on his show, one of them was a seafood eatery called the Crab Pot. It has something called a Sea Feast, and it truly is. They bring out a giant pot filled with crab, mussels, clams, sausage, potatoes, and shrimp, then dump it onto your table. There are no forks or knives just a mallet and a little picking fork. It really is a battle with your food.

My mom and I had a lot of fun going at our food. Personally I was having fun with the shrimp that were still full clothed. I named mine Jerry. Then I ate him. Sorry Jerry.

Anyway, the food was good and I learned some new things about myself.

  1. I am a master at de-shelling crab. I would get in there with my mallet, whack the crap out of it and like magic the entire piece of crab meat would come out untouched and ready for devouring. Yes, I am just that talented.
  2. I don’t like mussels or clams. I had never tried them before so I tired them there. They just don’t work with me, what can I say.
  3. I am definitely a kid at heart. I basically played with my food the entire time. It is hard not to when they give you a bib, a hammer and a pile full of food and say go at it. I mean what did they expect? My dad would have had a lot of fun there I believe.

It is a good place to just act like a kid and get messy with your food, and don’t be afraid to play with your food. They give you a whole roll of wet naps basically when you are done. Seriously though, you use all of them. It is really messy, really fun, and I recommend going for some fun food in Seattle.

Remember

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

wow I just found this poem I wrote in eighth grade….. kind of interesting

I open my eyes and see you
Your soul so happy and filled with joy
Two peas in a pod always together
Arm in arm right by my side
Sun shinning on your soft face
Wind tousling your brown hair
Silence, laughing
Hiding in prickly bushes away from the world
Our little hideout made out of blackberries
One so sweet, one so sour
No one can touch us
Our world of dreams and fantasies

I open my ears and hear you
Voice so strong and filled with love
Now cracks with every word
Tears like rain fall from your round face
Hugging each other to make the cruel world go away
Darkness threatens to swallow us
Silence, screaming
Parents yelling, how could this be
Eyes once filled with spirit and light
Weighed down by a burden
They are taking you from me
Our last words farewell, goodbye

I open my heart and remember you
Tall white house, too many windows
peering out like eyes covered in fall leaves
Place of love now filled with sorrow
Impenetrable fort of bushes grown over, forgotten
Remember our promises, our whispered dreams
Remember our guards the ever-present red wood trees
Silence, crying
I miss your voice, I miss your laugh
I miss our time as best friends
Our dreams now forgotten
But I will always remember you

Space Needle

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

IMG_7914

Of course going to Seattle entitles the Space Needle. Very impressive from the outside but it wasn’t really so amazing from the inside. This may partly be contributed to the fact that I don’t do well in elevators (not because I am claustrophobic, but because I get really dizzy).

But really, it wasn’t that great. You go up, say oh, ah at the view, and then go back down and leave. Frankly the monorail ride over was just as exciting if not more.

I do believe you have to see it just to say you have been to it, but otherwise not on my top ten list of things to see in Seattle. Anyways, I liked this photo of it, it was very tall and majestic.

Fremont Troll

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

So on our tour of Seattle we took a stop at the Fremont Troll which is a giant sculpture of a troll underneath a bridge. Creative and weird. I enjoyed it very much.

I’m Seventeen!

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

So today is my birthday and I am seventeen years of age. This is a shout out to all of my friends who gave me things, hugged me, and said happy birthday. Leave me a comment to say happy birthday! I love all of you!

Basically two of my best friends gave me a boat load of balloons, literally. I think there was like fifteen. They swallowed me and everyone who was brave enough to come within a five meter diameter of me. (yes I said meter because I think American measurements are stupid).

Anyway, I have a ton of sweets that my family are quickly devouring as I write, and today was a great birthday thanks to everyone.

Yet again, thanks for a good seventeenth birthday.
