Creeper Photo: Hamster Boy

Friday, November 20th, 2009

IMG_6483

The boy without a pet, how sad. Every kid needs a little animal to love and cherish for however short amount of time that creature is destined to spend with them. This picture makes me sad yet happy in a way. The poor kid just looks like he wants that little hamster so badly. He has the look of a kid who comes here everyday just to stare at that hamster. Not any hamster mind you, but that hamster in particular. I bet he named it too. I hope one day he gets his hamster and it is all he hoped it would be.

Creeper Photo: Fisherwoman

You seemed really alone, maybe I should have sat down with you. Maybe you were just on a break. Maybe you are just unhappy with the direction your life has taken. You wouldn’t look at me, what where you looking at? You looked so far away.

Creeper Photo: Left Behind

IMG_7486

You seemed upset, maybe you missed your ride home, maybe your boyfriend stood you up. You were just standing there next to the road at a bus stop. There were lots of people but you stood alone. Maybe your anger isolates you. Or maybe you just wanted to be alone. I wish I had asked. I like your scarf by the way.

Maybe I will write a poem about you, if so I will post it later so you won’t be alone.

Creeper Photo: A Skeleton’s Death Wish

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

IMG_7900 Oh the irony of a skeleton smoking.

This was in Pikes Place Market in Seattle during Halloween. Surprisingly the costumes where not as outrageous as I thought they would be. I was prepared to see some crazy things but it wasn’t absurd. Actually it was pretty normal.

Well this guy just cracked me up. Standing on a corner smoking in a skeleton outfit. There is just something funny about that.

Creeper Photo of the Day: Belong

This woman at University of Washington caught my eye mainly because of her face, hair and glasses. I really like her attire as well. It just felt like she belonged there and she knew it. She seemed to fit in right where she belonged.

Creeper Photo of the Day: Love is Blind

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

IMG_7832

Love truly is blind, this woman in Pikes Place Market was singing on a corner and was truly blind. There was something really sad about this, yet she seemed so happy. Maybe she just loved blindly enough that she didn’t need to see, she could just believe. Some times it is better to live that way. It is easier to believe blindly than have to stare the truth in the face everyday. I wonder which kind of person she is, a believer or a seeker.

Which are you?

The Little Princess

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

I took this photo in Seattle of this little girl and it reminded me of a poem I wrote once, here it is.

IMG_7676

There is a little girl
Sitting on the sidewalk
She cries with little
Hiccups of breath
As silver drops
Run rivers down her face
Her hair bobs with her bouncing breaths
She squeezes her eyes hut
Creasing a face
So soft and young
Making cardboard out of dough
Holding her knee in her hands

I bend as I near her
And crouch down next to her
She hiccups and sniffles
As she tilts her head my way
Her blue eyes swampy
And clouded as a stormy day
Her dress lies in tatters
A wand broken at her side
A basket of belongings
Strewn around her
As if blown into a warfield
I offer a smile
As I block the sun from her eyes
It is the least I could do

Dragging an arm across her face
She looks at me quizzically
“What’s wrong?” I ask
As I survey this battlefield
She looks from me to her dress
As she sniffles again
A Cinderella dress
Ready for the grand ball
I notice her tiara
Rattled in the snarls of her hair
“I fell and ripped my dress”
She whispers in a way only children can
Audible and loud
Yet you have to lean in to hear

“That’s alright” I reply
“Everyone falls down sometimes”
She shakes her head fiercely
As if trying to rid herself of a bad dream
“All I wanted to do”
She cried sobbing all anew now
“Was be a princess
But look at what I have done”
She points to her wand
Broken and destroyed
Looks at her dress
Ruined and dirty
“How can I be a princess now?”

“You don’t need a wand,” I say
As I pick up the pieces
“Or a dress” I put the pieces in her lap
Full of torn and ruffled clothes
“To be a princess all you need
Is a good heart and a quick mind”
Yet again I offer a smile
She tilts her head at me no longer crying
Examining me and my words
As they lay at her feet
I watch as she picks them up
Studies them and their worth
And offers me a smile back in return
Small but honest and true
“Remember that,” I say
“And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise”

I help her to her feet
She sniffles one last time
As she picks up the debris
Of a life she no longer needs
I nod and she nods
I walk past her smiling
I turn back once
And the little princess waves
I wave back
Wishing my little princess in me
Hadn’t left me so long ago

Smoker

Monday, November 9th, 2009

IMG_7807

Creeper Photo of the day goes to the Smoker. She was on Pikes Place Market smoking in the street. Her glasses and face caught my attention. I wonder who she is talking to and why it is so important to go sit in the street to talk. She seemed upset, I wonder why.
