Charlotte and I are down in Santa Cruz for Thanksgiving dinner at Valri’s house. Pam and Lyle came down from Half Moon Bay with us. We’re also joined by our friend Stewart who’s down from Berkeley. Chris is looking very sharp in his little outfit.
Scott’s in town visiting, so we decide to take a hiking trip out to Yosemite. We start the hike at Glacier Point and go as far as Scott can last. An old friend from our Colorado days is in town as well, and he joins us for the hike. Charlotte is busy working out our route, while I gear up for the trip. Lots of spectacular scenery along the way. We pass quite a few waterfalls on this trail. It’s very nice starting at the top of the canyon rather than the valley floor. You also get lots of fantastic views of Half Dome and other peaks. ...
We make a visit to Santa Cruz while my brother Scott is in town. We check out the the view from the wharf. The boardwalk looks like a lot of fun also. We then head out to Steamer Lane and the surfing museum. There’s a nice view of a sailing regatta and someone catching a wave. It’s always a nice day to visit Santa Cruz. It’s really quite a warm spot in comparison to home in Half Moon Bay. ...
My brother Scott and our friends Brian, Pam, and Lyle are over the house for the day. Our backyard backs onto state property, so there’s plenty of room to play. It’s a good day to enjoy the swing.
The dock is so peaceful and inviting. One would think that vacationing in Bootjack is all relaxation, swimming, boating, fishing, and all kinds of other fun things. You would be mistaken. Everyone needs to pitch in and work together on the wood pile every year. Gordon relies on this weed for heating in the winter, and it’s a small price to pay for all the hospitality and good times. It’s also a great chance to work up a sweat and get bit by the really big mosquitoes that buzz around the sawdust. ...
Charlotte and I are headed up to the Trinity Alps north of Mt. Shasta. We hear that the backpacking is great up there, and it’s remote enough to remind us of hiking in Colorado. Mt. Shasta is a great site on the way up. The hike is very steep as we climb through Long Canyon. It’s a nice hike and we welcome the rest when we break for camp. ...
Charlotte’s friend Jana from Colorado has come out for a visit. We make a trip up to San Francisco on a windy day. On a drive through the back country we come across a very cool red barn. It makes a great excuse for a stop along the way.
We didn’t do the big honeymoon thing after we got married. We decided to do a local trip and save the big trip for another day. We headed out to Lake Tahoe some exploring, hiking, and time away together. The peaks aren’t huge around the lake, but the view certainly is amazing. On the way home, we stopped at Virginia City in Nevada. Pretty cool old spot with plenty of history. ...
I had a bit of time before we needed to head out to the church for the wedding. What better way to pass the time then wondering out on the golf course for a little putting. Mike and Chris help keep me relaxed on what will be a big day.
The big event was held at the Half Moon Bay Methodist church. It’s a beautiful old church and the perfect size for our relatively small group. Everyone is gathering for the ceremony. Everything is kind of a blur to me. I am so excited to marry the love of my life. The wedding was beautiful. All I could do was keep looking at my new wife and try to keep my legs from shaking. I’m sure everyone else in the congregation had a much easier time. ...
