Charlotte, Nick, and Monica visit Berkeley

Charlotte took the big ones up to UC Berkeley today for a campus tour. Charlotte said it was awesome, and that she liked the campus even better than Stanford. Either school would be a nice spot if they could get in. The views looked sweet.

Passover and Easter at the Multers

The stars have aligned this year and we’ll be enjoying both Passover and Easter today. First is the mad dash for candy in the backyard. The Peysers and Sonia’s family are joining us this year. We’re very happy to have them over. We’re sorry to not make it to New York this year for the Seder, but we’ve got Ira’s 70th birthday coming up and a big trip planned in a few months in New York for that. ...

Charlotte's birthday

Charlotte’s friends have been celebrating her birthday for the past few days. There’s a long line of people wishing her best for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tonight we get our shot. I think she enjoyed herself.

Another SVEF training ride

It’s time for another Sunday morning training ride to help people get ready for the SVEF ride at the end of the month. A lot less riders today as many people went to a local century ride. It was fun hooking up with Steve Miller this time. He had a great story about Floyd Landis’ hip replacement. Dave Imboden went down Eureka Canyon for a longer ride while we headed down Soquel San Jose. I was really sorry to hear later that he had a bad crash. I hope he starts feeling better soon.

Lunch at the club with the Hoyems

Charlotte, Valri, and Gordon head up to San Mateo to meet George at his club for lunch. A little fancier than La Madrona. I sure hope George did his Thurston Howell III impression for everyone.

Gabe the photographer

Gabe is off to hone his digital photography skills in the backyard. His first subject is a thoughtful study of our cat. Followed by a series of shots that capture the true essence of spring.

Gabe's real birthday party

The big event with a bunch of Gabe’s friends a few days ago was plenty of fun, but tonight of fun, but tonight we’re having a small birthday party just with the family. Gabe really liked his stag beetle and birthday cow. Monica was a bit freaked by the bug, but she loved her stickers.

Gabe's birthday party

First stop on Gabe’s festival of fun in Nunu’s in Scotts Valley to create some pottery masterpieces. I can’t wait to see them after they’re fired. And the artists show me their stuff. Gabe showed me a little more than I bargained for. They finished up early, so it’s time to burn off some excess energy at a local park. Kind of like a tornado setting down in your backyard. I’m sure the locals and their very small children enjoyed our visit. ...

A great San Francisco day

Today is our real anniversary that we’ll be enjoying while cruising around San Francisco. We left Union Square and headed over to the Embarcadero to check out the sculptures. Fort Mason is one of our favorite areas for quiet exploring. We loved the huge community garden. And then it’s time to head home to Santa Cruz. But first we make an emergency stop for gas where we pay some ridiculous price per gallon. ...

Our anniversary night in San Francisco

Charlotte and I are off for a rare night away from home on our own. Our anniversary is tomorrow and we’ll be enjoying ourselves in fabulous San Francisco. A few interesting faces on the drive up. I had never been to SFMOMA before and was very glad to have finally gotten to it. We enjoyed the usual lengthy walks before the fog started to roll in. Since it was a Sunday night, we had no trouble getting into the Stinking Rose for dinner. A very cool place and the food was excellent. The garlic was killing me the rest of the night. ...
