Brook Knoll Pot of Gold Auction

harlotte is enjoying one of the many fundraising efforts on behalf of Scotts Valley schools. Nothing like a fun dinner with lots to drink to really inspire some big spenders. There are always some really great items for people to go crazy on.

Charlie's new monster truck

Charlie and Kim stopped by with quite the surprise. Looks like Charlie finally got himself a real offroad vehicle. Pictures really can’t capture the immensity of this thing. I would hate to see this coming up fast in my rear view mirror.

Charlotte, Valri, and Gordon spend the weekend in San Francisco

Time for a beautiful weekend up in San Francisco. Charlotte really enjoyed these statues along the Embarcadero. The cruise ship was also a great sight. Charlotte and her dad really enjoy Chinatown. It’s also a great place for green tea. Time to head over some famous hills over to the wharf area. I think Valri is looking to join a motorcycle gang. Have to break the news to her family when Charlotte gets back. ...

Evergreen Cemetery

Charlotte swung by Evergreen Cemetery over at Harvey West today with Gabe. She got a few nice photos. You can also see Gabe getting a bit freaked out thinking about the place they were visiting. Charlotte has no such issues having grown up next to a cemetery.

SVEF training ride

I’m heading over to CycleSport to lead out the first training ride for this year’s SVEF Mountain Charlie Challenge fundraising ride. It’s a big money maker for our local schools, and a great excuse to ride with a bunch of friends from Scotts Valley. Charlotte, Gabe, and Paula give us the big send off. We’ve got a pretty good sized crew for this morning’s ride. Off we go for three hours of fun in the mountains! ...

Gabe the photographer

Today Gabe was inspired for some reason and asked to use the digital camera. Here’s a number of random shots after getting rid of quite a few really bad ones. I love the way he surveyed different areas of the house. He’s also developed a real interest in playing my old trumpet.

A nice drive in the mountains

Gabe is off to Science Camp this week and unfortunately forgot his coat in someone’s car. Charlotte and I head off over the summit towards Eureka Canyon. Charlotte is wearing the right shoes for the trip, and I’m thinking twice about my choice of sandals once we see that it’s snowing on the summit. The road closure up on Highland Way is worst than I remember. Maybe the dark, the ice, and the snow are making it seem a little scarier than when I was on the bike. Then again maybe it always was. I know plenty of riders that will really enjoy the adrenalin rush this part of the SVEF Mt Charlie Challenge Ride route will provide. What a fun place to work on rock piles! I’ll have to ask Monica if she wants to try it up here. ...

Monica the rock pile artist

Monica’s new favorite pastime when visiting grandpa is to build rock piles at the beach. The city (and some annoying beach visitors) frown upon the act as its been deemed dangerous for small children. I won’t even start on what I would say to that nameless someone that commented to this effect to her today.

Charlotte, Gordon and the crew at San Jose Museum of Art

Charlotte heads down to the San Jose Museum of Art with her dad, Valri, George, and Gloria. The M.C. Escher exhibit and a chance to hook up with George are today’s goals. Charlotte really enjoyed the 100,000 people chatting on the Internet work of art. Sounded like a cool idea. A few outside shots on what appears to be a very nice day. Too bad Gloria isn’t getting around easily lately. ...

Monica makes Principal's List again

I never get tired of watching our kids do great in school. Seems Monica is enjoying herself also. A bunch of her friends collect awards as well.
