Boat trip to Jacobsville

It’s always a nice evening for a boat ride, and tonight we’re headed down the channel to Jacobsville. There’s never a shortage of beautiful sunsets on the lake.

Fun on Portage Lake

Being up in Bootjack is all about the lake. Today we’re enjoying boating, skiing, tubing, and a bit of fishing. The only way spend the day.

The big Portage Lake fishing showdown

Charlie laid down the big challenge to Gordy on who was the better fishing team. Charlie and Gordon took one boat. Gordy, Gabe, Annie, and I took the other. While we hauled in a few nice walleye and other fish, Charlie came up empty. Best not to mess with that many years of fishing experience.

Multers, Peysers, and Hoyems in Copper Harbor

Charlotte and Valri took the whole crew out to Copper Harbor today. First stop is Eagle River and then the shore of Lake Superior. Then it’s over to Devil’s Washtub to take advantage of the very low water level this year. Lunch in Copper Harbor looks like it was fun. Next is Fort Wilkins. Looks like Gordon was a bad boy and received the punishment he deserved. Or maybe it’s just torture from the older kids. I’ll let you decide. ...

Jacobsville with Gordy's family

We just missed Gordy when we flew in from Philadelphia, but the kids have really enjoyed hanging with Gordon and Annie. Fishing and the beach at Jacobsville are always a fun destination. Everyone wave to the Keewenaw Star.

Swimming in Portage Lake on a blustery day

Swimming of the dock is loads of fun anytime, but when the wind kicks up it’s a blast.

Ira's 70th birthday party

Lynda hosted dad’s 70th birthday party this year. Scott and his family and the Watnicks joined us for the big celebration. It was great seeing Annabel after too many years, and Max brought his fiancee for everyone to meet. John’s twins were looking much bigger also. Lynda and Steve did an awesome job being the host for the party. It sure was great to see everyone together.

Visiting Washington, DC

One more big day in the city. First is our scheduled tour of the Library of Congress. An impressive place, though our tour guide was pretty much an idiot. The little girl in the tour knew more than he did. The Supreme Court was awesome. The excellent docent was a nice change from our last stop. We tried to get into the Capitol, but they had some kind of security issue and then the line was way too long. We were getting a bit tired as well. Definitely need to visit on our next trip. ...

Visiting Washington, DC

Time for another gigantic day in our nation’s capitol. A view from the hotel, then it’s off to our first stop Arlington Cemetery. The shuttle takes us first to visit with Robert and John Kennedy. Then it’s off to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The rest of the cemetery awaits. To avoid the pounding our feet took yesterday, we’ve arranged quite a treat for the rest of the day. A limo gives us the grand tour around the more difficult to reach parts of the city. First we head up the hills of Georgetown. ...
