SVMS graduation practice

Monica will be graduating from middle school shortly, but first everyone needs to practice for the upcoming ceremony. Charlotte and other parents help out with lunch for everyone. I think they will really enjoy the ice cream Charlotte is working on. Everyone is really hungry from what I can see with the long lines. There’s plenty of hanging out and playing around before the rehearsal. The rehearsal is over at the Skypark amphitheater. ...

Accepting the Webby Award for LinkedIn

I’ve been an active user of LinkedIn for a long time. It’s a great tool for professional social networking that I find useful personally, and for my work at Waverley Software. They recently won two awards at the annualWebby Awards and asked their 11 million subscribers to suggest a 5 word acceptance speech for one of the awards. I threw my suggestion into the hat, and unbelievably they selected mine! Now I’m off to NYC to accept the award for them all expenses paid. It’s always great to come visit New York. Dan and Kay from LinkedIn were my excellent hosts. Kay’s logo bling was very cute. ...

Charlotte and Lynn hike Mirror Lake

Today’s hike will be quite a bit easier than yesterday’s hike to the top of Yosemite Falls. The trip out to Mirror Lake is a great walk with nice views of Half Dome. Looks like the local wildlife is active today. The deer is pretty cute, but it’s best to give the bears plenty of room. A great trip has to end sometime. Charlotte heads back to drop Lynn at the airport, and then home to the family that’s been missing her so much. ...

Charlotte and Lynn hike Yosemite Falls

Looks like a beautiful morning beckoning the intrepid hikers to begin their long journey. Time to leave the cozy cabin to start on the dusty trail. Charlotte and Lynn posing at the trailhead. The hikers make their way up the long winding trail. Hey, that’s Half Dome over there. We’ve been to the top of that one before. That’s a freakin rattlesnake! We’re waking, we’re walking. The views are slightly better than on the usual Santa Cruz hikes. ...

Charlotte and Lynn in Yosemite

Lynn is up for a visit from San Diego, and she’s heading out to Yosemite with Charlotte. They’re planning a big hike for tomorrow that should be a nice change of pace from Charlotte’s usual local hikes. The mountains are calling.

Charlotte's PTA party

The last big event of the year for the PTA was at our house. The kids and I enjoyed a nice night out while the party was going on. When we got home, the group was congratulating themselves on another year of great work for our schools. Thank you Charlotte!

Scotts Valley Ice Cream Social

It’s time for the next big SVEF event, the Ice Cream Social. This event is a lot more complicated than the bike ride, so Charlotte and countless volunteers have been very busy for some time now. This morning is the last big push to get everything setup and ready for the big crowd. It’s a great day and things are almost ready. Gabe takes the opportunity to get in some quality skateboarding time at the park before the usual crowd arrives. Unfortunately he wound up taking a hard spill and getting a very swollen knee. And no, he didn’t try to drop in to the BIG bowl. ...

Gabe the photographer and model

Gabe is really enjoying himself while posing for the camera in Monica’s sunglasses. It’s some kind of strange combination of fashion, skin, and ninja style. This is Gabe’s idea of creativity, a photo of Charlotte’s desktop picture. Very interesting. A few more of Gabe’s many photos. The rest wind up in the trash.
