Cantua Creek Road Race

Gabe and Matt are racing Cantua Creek road race today. It’s a pretty boring out and back a few times course, but there is the smell of all those cows to enjoy. Unfortunately Gabe flatted, so I’m thinking he won’t have such great memories of this particular race.

Fremont Early Bird Criterium

Today we’re heading out to Fremont for some early season racing. Gracie is in training to become a bike racing dog. And Gabe takes off in the Cat 4 field. Later in the day it’s time to have fun racing with the juniors.

Folsom Classic Criterium

It’s the first race of the year for Gabe and it’s nice to be up in Folsom again. We’ve got good weather and a nice turnout. We even managed a few good creeper shots for Monica to enjoy.

Veil

They had nothing to say to each other. All had been said for them behind walls, and curtains that veiled them from choice. Just as he now stands separated by a veil again, but one of a different origin this time. The veil that separates him from childhood to manhood as his bride walks down the aisle. He has never seen her face before and knows not what lies behind this barrier except for his future. He wrings his hands behind his back with fingers that shake and sweat. He is not ready. He wishes he could run or cry, do thing that a child would do. But he can’t as his future fast approaches down an aisle graced with flowers and the whispers of a family divided by a thin line. A line between exchange of goods and exchange of humans, they wonder if there is a difference. ...

Just another beautiful day at the beach

It’s always so much fun to stop at any of the beaches along Highway 1 out of Santa Cruz. Monica and Gabe enjoy making rock piles. Gracie plays with her rocks. And I get to enjoy my family.

Cycling road trip with Gabe and the girls

We’re headed south on a big loop in search of great cycling. First stop is the amazing city of Solvang. Our first day will be a nice warmup doing the Solvang Century 100K route. Meanwhile Charlotte and Monica get to enjoy the ostriches just outside of town. And then it’s over to the Old Mission Santa Ines for some artsy photography care of Monica. Nice job on the closeup manger scene. It’s like I’m really there! ...

Road Trip: Solvang

My family has departed on a biking road trip adventure where my mother and I explore and hike while my brother and father ride their bikes. Our first stop is in Solvang, California just an hour past San Luis Obispo. This quaint little danish town is full of a tourist’s delights with adorable shops, beautiful architecture, and amusing things all over town. We began with a short stop at an OStrich and Emu farm which sadly was closed. We were able to sneak a couple of shots from the highway. ...

Christmas dinner at the Peysers

Val and Kim’s house is bustling with family tonight, and I like it! It’s also fun to still have the “kid’s table” full of college kids home for the holidays. And of course it’s a great chance to goof around with my Monica girly.

Update

I know it has been disappointing how little I am updating my blog but I just want everyone to know I am still here. I have recently been frustrated with my blog and feeling it has started to go in a direction that I never wanted. Very soon I am planning on starting a new and getting back to the way I wanted this blog to be. I am going to start writing more and publishing everyday as soon as finals is over, think of it as my New Years Resolution. So from New Years on I will start to regularly post again. I am sorry it won’t be sooner because I am heading into my first ever finals week at UC Berkeley but I will try to post when I can. ...
