Instead of the usual breakfast in bed thing, Charlotte's idea of the perfect way to start the day is to go for a giant hike in the woods. Charlotte and Paula try a new route starting in Scotts Valley and going through Henry Cowell, Pogonip, and then down to Santa Cruz. The first big obstacle is getting across the swollen river. Of course they're already plenty wet from the rain today.

A few sites along the way include a memorial, lime kilns, and some great views.

Charlotte took a few photos downtown while waiting for me to pick her up. A loop trip today would certainly have meant an all day hiking effort.
