    Baptized April 1, 1718, Reformed Dutch Church, Port Richmond. Witnesses, Jacob Van Pelt and Aeltje Van Pelt.

    Jacob Van Pelt was the paternal uncle-in-law and Aeltje Van Pelt was his wife, Aeltje (Haughwout) Van Pelt, the sister of Pieter Haughwout.

    Peter lived on Staten Island and owned property there in the locality later known as Willow Brook or Gun Factory in Northfield. He built a house at the bend on Willow Brook Road, west end of a tract he purchased, along with his widowed mother and brother, that stood immediately west of the home of Geertyd (Charity) Hagewout, wife of Joseph Christopher.

    Peter Haughwout, wheelwright, left a will dated December 15, 1787, proved September 6, 1792, Staten Island, Richmond County, New York. Peter's wife was specifically mentioned Ally, his eldest son, Pieter Haughwout and sons, Nicholas and Wyant Haughwout were named, along with his daughter Nellie Cozine and her children. Grand children named were Allata Cozine, Garret Cozine, Peter Cozine and Covas Cozine. His deceased daughter Alnjay Webb and her two children, Aljay Webb and Richard Webb, and his daughter, Margaret Haughwout, wife of James Cozine. Executors were his sons, Nicholas and Wynant Haughwout. Witnessed by Thomas Kingston, Abraham Egberts and Joseph Christopher (his brother-in-law). Proved before Surrogate Adrian Banker by Witnesses Abraham Egberts, Joseph Christopher. Executors qualified September 6, 1792.
