George (son of Abraham Scott and Electra Curtis) was born on 18 Apr 1835 in Victory, Cayuga County, New York; died on 10 Apr 1920 in Hastings Township, Barry County, Michigan; was buried on 12 Apr 1920 in Striker Cemetery, Baltimore Township, Barry County, Michigan. Received from David Allison: The Striker family purchased land from the Federal government in 1850, located in Section 3, Town 2 North Range 8, West, in Baltimore Township. "First Landowners in Barry County, Michigan{", listed Gilbert and James Striker as purchasing two parcels of land, 180 acres and 80 acres of land, respectively.

John S. Barry, governor of Michigan, appointed Gilbert captain of F Co., 24th Regiment, 17th Brigade, 9th Division of the Michigan Militia on January 8, 1850.

According to the "Early History of Michigan and Biographies of State Officers, Members of Congress, Judges and Legislators", Bingham, 1887, Gilbert was a Representative from Barry County 1873-74. He was born in Washington, New York, and in 1818 his parents moved to Wayne County, New York. In 1835, he moved to Michigan and settled first at Concord, Jackson County, then moved to Baltimore Township, Barry County in 1852. Gilbert was a farmer by occupation, a Republican in politics, became a prominent citizen of this section of the state, was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, and served as Justice of the Peace for 27 years.

"Whereas Hendrick Stryker of Kings County, Gentleman, died intestate, Letters of Administration are granted to Anthony Dunne of New York, merchant. The widow (not named) having refused. November 12, 1739. "Abstracts of Wills", Vol. III, p 272, published by The New York Historical Society.

"I Peter Strychre, of Flatlands, in Kings County, being in health. I leave to my 7 children, John, Jacob, Barent, Peter, Hendrick, Zytie, wife of Aris Vanderbilt, and Lumitie, wife of Johanes Lott, all my personal estate except that my son John shall have my silver hilted sword. I leave to my wife Aertie the use of the 'Great southern room in my dwelling house in Flatlands, with liberty to pass through the house to the well to fetch water or any other business, and she is to be maintained with all necessaries I make my sons John and Peter executors.
